My nail plate is discolored after removing the product. What could be the reason for this?Updated 2 months ago
Slight discoloration of the nail plate can have various, mostly harmless causes. It is often caused by color pigments (e.g., in intense or dark shades) that can temporarily deposit in the upper layers of the nail plate—especially if no protective base coat was used or if the nails were already dry or porous.
External influences such as water, cleaning agents, or mechanical stress can also make the nail surface more susceptible to such effects. As a rule, these discolorations are not permanent and will grow out with natural nail growth at the latest.
Our tip: Make sure to always use a base coat and let it dry completely. For intense colors, you can also use two thin layers of base coat. If discoloration occurs, you can usually reduce it by exfoliating your nails (e.g., with our Exfoliating Cuticle Gel or a paste made from baking soda and lemon juice) or gently buffing the nail surface. In addition, consistent care with nourishing nail oils or strengthening treatments helps to support the regeneration of the nail plate.
